Parts of beaks, heads and feet. I took this photo from an original copy of The British Encyclopaedia or Dictionary of Arts and Sciences (1809) , in the University of East Anglia rare books library. I was searching for the Great Auk, a bird still alive in the encyclopaedia, but extinct 33 years later.
